The Lead Data Steward serves as the primary liaison between IT and Business Operations for translating business rules and needs into data architectures within the IT systems environment. This role is responsible for interpreting and documenting data process flows, data mapping, data validation design and monitoring. This role will also be responsible for maintaining data dictionaries of Stock Yards Bank & Trust systems including the Data Warehouse, and will seek out opportunities to reduce manual processes and ensure data accuracy.

Organizational Duties And Responsibilities
- Supports the mission, vision and philosophy of the bank. Complies willingly with all organizational policies and procedures.
- Supports all functions that maintain compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Serve as a champion of data governance philosophy within Stock Yards Bank, promoting the value of data standards and consistency in data usage as well as addressing questions from IT and Business team partners
- Act as a Business Analyst with an understanding of data warehousing and data governance standards from both an IT and Business User perspective
- Establish data governance parameters to ensure compliance with Government regulations and confidence in the data being consumed by internal Business Operations partners
- Work with Business unit counterparts to define requirements for BI reports, analytics, and dashboards including metrics for ensuring accuracy and security of data for both “As Is” and “To Be” states
- Translate defined requirements into data mappings and data architectures for tracking data lineage, validation and load failures, availability of data, and appropriate measures within a Snowflake environment
- Compile and maintain data dictionary with system and business rules for calculating and validating field values, security roles, and IT and Business User naming conventions
- Ensure “single source of truth” for each data element and coordinate with business team Data Owners to ensure values for current and future environment align and are reflected accurately
- Work to reduce manual data processes and establish appropriate standards and validations of data
Minimum Job Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Business Administration or related field
Experience
- 5-10 years serving as a liaison between IT and Business teams
- 5-10 years’ experience in data warehousing with recent experience in working with a Cloud environment
- 1-5 years working within a highly regulated data-driven industry (finance/banking or healthcare preferred)
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in terms readily understandable to business users and translate business rules effectively to IT development team
- Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives while maintaining organizational clarity, prioritization and deadlines
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present governance concepts and provide actionable guidance to business units and IT teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data issues and determine appropriate governance actions
- Ability to develop, review, and enforce documented policies, procedures, and data management standards
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and integrity when working with sensitive, confidential, or regulated information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and the capability to learn and adopt data governance, metadata, or quality management technologies as needed
