Job Description
Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group company, are looking to identify a Civil Estimator to support our project in Poughkeepsie NY. The Civil Estimator will develop, create and prepare Civil cost estimates for a diverse set of projects in the early stages of development and continue to support the project team with updated cost information throughout the Pre-construction phase of the projects.

Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group company, are looking to identify a Civil Estimator to support our project in Poughkeepsie NY. The Civil Estimator will develop, create and prepare Civil cost estimates for a diverse set of projects in the early stages of development and continue to support the project team with updated cost information throughout the Pre-construction phase of the projects.
Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
- Review and interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for civil construction activities (earthworks, concrete, utilities, asphalt, grading, etc.).
- Develop conceptual and preliminary estimates during the early stages of design.
- Analyze labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs to ensure pricing accuracy.
- Prepare and submit tenders, bids, and proposals in line with company standards and client requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather accurate pricing information.
- Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotations and verify scope coverage.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client briefings as required.
- Assist in value engineering exercises to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality.
- Maintain organized and detailed records of all estimating activities.
- Prepare cost summaries, bid comparisons, and project cost reports.
- Support post-bid analysis and handover to project teams after award.
- BS or BA required. Preferred areas of study include construction, management, engineering or architecture.
- 5 years of experience in Estimating, Construction Engineer/Project Engineer, or related duties in general contractor estimating and purchasing.
- Preferred Experience with Data Center, Mission Critical, Corporate Interiors.
- Earns and maintain trust by demonstrating honesty, accountability and reliability
