BTP Development Architect
Location: Corona, CA
Department: IT / Digital Transformation
Permanent Role
Candidates should preferably be local to Corona, California/neighboring area or willing to relocate as the role is hybrid with at least 3 days in the office/week.
We are urgently looking for a BTP Development Architect with expertise in the following areas:
• BTP UI5
• Build
• Theme Designer
• CAPM
• ABAP OData
The role requires current hands-on development experience, with a focus on at least one of the following areas: UI5 or ABAP (in addition to BTP experience).
Job Summary:
We are looking for a visionary and hands-on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) Architect and Developer to lead our enterprise cloud transformation initiatives and manage the SAP BTP Center of Excellence (CoE) along with project development delivery. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to drive innovation, standardization, and excellence in SAP BTP adoption across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Architecture & Solution Design
a. Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions on SAP BTP.
b. Architect end-to-end solutions using SAP BTP services including Integration Suite, Extension Suite, HANA Cloud, and AI Core (including application development, data management, integration, automation and analytics)
c. Ensure alignment of SAP BTP architecture with enterprise IT strategy and business goals.
d. Lead technical assessments, quality reviews, proof-of-concepts, and solution evaluations.
e. SME & Hands-on development for Extension Suite (UI5, User Experience, OData, CAPM & HANA)
f. Provide architectural & best practice guidance and alignment along with design validation.
2. Center of Excellence (CoE) Leadership
a. Establish and lead the SAP BTP CoE to drive innovation, governance, and best practices.
b. Define CoE strategy, operating model, KPIs, and roadmap in alignment with business and IT leadership.
c. Build and mentor a cross-functional team of SAP BTP experts, developers, and integration specialists.
d. Promote knowledge sharing, reusable assets, and standardized development practices across projects.
e. Organize training sessions, workshops, and internal certifications to upskill teams on SAP BTP capabilities.
f. Act as the primary point of contact for SAP BTP-related escalations, guidance, and strategic decisions.
g. Responsible for increasing overall BTP Adoption at customer end
3. BTP Delivery
a. Responsible for quality & timely project delivery in BTP UI5/Fiori, CAPM, OData.
b. Must have BTP UI5, Theme Designer, CAPM & OData experience with HANA Cloud.
c. Good to have ABAP experience. ABAP experience will be preferred.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration
a. Work closely with business units, SAP functional teams, and external partners to understand requirements and deliver value-driven solutions.
b. Present architectural recommendations and CoE outcomes to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.
c. Collaborate with SAP and other vendors to stay updated on product roadmaps and innovations.
5. Governance & Compliance
a. Define and enforce governance models for SAP BTP usage, including security, performance, and lifecycle management.
b. Ensure compliance with data privacy, regulatory, and audit requirements in cloud-based SAP solutions.
c. Monitor and optimize cost, performance, and scalability of SAP BTP services.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 15 years of experience in SAP architecture, with at least 5 years focused on SAP BTP.
- Strong knowledge of SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP), Fiori/UI5, and SAP HANA Cloud.
- Experience with SAP Integration Suite, API Management, and Event Mesh.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (e.g., SAP BTP, Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Excellent understanding and experience of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based development.
- Experience of using UI/UX tools for user experience design validations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAP BTP certification(s).
- Experience in industries such as manufacturing, retail, or consumer goods & services.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Confluence
