What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. MEP QA/QC Inspector position at STL Engineers?
We are seeking a highly experienced Sr. MEP QA/QC Inspector to support large-scale construction projects involving complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. This role is responsible for ensuring construction quality, compliance, and documentation across all MEP disciplines in commercial and/or regulated facility environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field inspections of MEP systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical distribution (panels, switchgear, lighting, infrastructure), to verify compliance with construction drawings, specifications, and approved submittals.
- Monitor ongoing construction activities to ensure adherence to quality control procedures, inspection and testing plans (ITPs), applicable codes, and safety requirements.
- Review MEP drawings, specifications, redlines, and technical submittals to confirm accuracy and identify potential issues prior to installation or during construction.
- Prepare and maintain QA/QC documentation, including:
- Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs)
- Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Inspection checklists and field reports
- Progress photos and supporting documentation
- Coordinate closely with contractors, construction managers, and QA/QC teams to communicate findings, resolve quality issues, and verify corrective actions.
- Support inspections and quality oversight in active or operational environments, ensuring work is completed safely with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of experience in construction QA/QC or field inspection
- Strong experience with MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing)
- Experience in commercial construction or regulated/high-complexity environments. Examples include: hospitals, airports, data centers, industrial facilities, large commercial projects
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Experience preparing NCRs, IDRs, and QA/QC reports
- Strong understanding of construction quality control processes and field inspection practices
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
