District Manager

Lead People. Grow the Business. Make a Difference.

At Stinker, great stores start with great leaders.

As a District Manager, you’ll lead a group of Stinker stores by developing Store Managers, driving business results, and ensuring a consistent experience for employees and guests.

You’ll own your district’s performance, from profitability and operational execution to people development and guest experience. Through a strong presence in your stores, you’ll coach leaders, identify opportunities, remove obstacles, and create accountability for results.

This job is done on the floor, not behind a desk. If you’re an experienced multi-unit leader who would rather spend a day making a Store Manager better than sitting in an office, we’d love to meet you.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

When you join Stinker, you’re joining a family-owned company that believes investing in people is the best business strategy.

We Offer

  • Competitive pay with annual merit increases
  • DailyPay
  • Paid Time Off that increases with tenure
  • Eight Paid holidays
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage
  • HSA and FSA options
  • Accident coverage and optional life insurance
  • Free virtual healthcare for employees enrolled in a Stinker medical plan
  • 401(k) and Roth 401(k) options with a discretionary company match of 25% on the first 10% of wages contributed
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Employee referral bonuses
  • Professional development and opportunities for career growth

Why Leaders Choose Stinker

Leadership at Stinker is about developing people and creating an environment where teams can succeed.

As a District Manager, you’ll be trusted to lead through your Store Managers, make business decisions, solve problems, and take ownership of your district’s results. You’ll also partner with leaders across the organization to strengthen our people, stores, and business.

We measure our leaders by what their districts deliver and by whom they develop. The Store Managers you grow and the leaders those managers grow after you, are the mark you leave here.

What You’ll Do

You’ll lead the people, operations, and financial performance of your district.

You’ll:

  • Spend the majority of your week in your stores, working shoulder to shoulder with Store Managers and their teams
  • Lead, coach, and develop Store Managers to improve performance and build strong teams
  • Coach in the moment and turn what happens in the store on an ordinary shift into the lesson that makes your leader better
  • Maintain a visible presence in stores to support leaders, recognize successes, and identify opportunities
  • Analyze P&L statements, sales, labor, expenses, shrink, audits, and other key performance indicators, then walk the store and connect the numbers to what you see
  • Partner with Store Managers to develop action plans that improve profitability and operational performance
  • Set clear expectations and hold leaders accountable for results, follow-through, and consistent execution
  • Build the bench: support the recruitment, development, retention, and succession planning of store leadership so every store has a next leader coming
  • Ensure consistent execution of company initiatives, policies, promotions, merchandising, safety, food service, cleanliness, and brand standards
  • Partner with Human Resources and support teams on staffing, employee relations, performance, and operational needs
  • Lead teams through change and help Store Managers successfully implement new initiatives
  • Build strong partnerships between store operations and Stinker support teams
  • Support community involvement and Stinker’s commitment to being a bright spot in the communities we serve
  • Conduct regular district meetings to communicate priorities, address challenges, and maintain alignment

The Impact You’ll Make

Your leadership directly influences the success of your stores, employees, and guests.

You’ll help:

  • Build capable and accountable Store Managers and future leaders
  • Grow people who outgrow the job they were hired for and take pride when they do
  • Create engaged, high-performing store teams
  • Deliver a consistent and positive guest experience
  • Improve sales, profitability, and operational performance
  • Strengthen retention and leadership development
  • Maintain safe, clean, and well-operated stores
  • Ensure consistent execution of company standards and initiatives

Success in this role is reflected through district profitability, operational performance, guest experience, employee retention, leadership development, safety, compliance, and consistent execution.

About Stinker

Founded in 1936, Stinker is a family-owned convenience retailer serving communities throughout Idaho, Colorado, and Wyoming.

We got our name in a fight. In 1936, a 20-year old named Farris Lind opened a service station in Twin Falls and started selling gasoline for less than the major oil companies thought he should. They didn’t take it well. When one of them told a newspaper that Farris Lind was a real stinker, he took it as a compliment, put the word on his stations, and drew a skunk wearing red boxing gloves.

So the gloves came first, and they were never a joke. Fearless Farris put them on because he spent his career punching above his weight on behalf of the customer, and because a small Idaho company that refuses to be pushed around has to be willing to fight for what it believes in. Ninety years later, that’s still the job. We fight for our employees. We fight for our guests. That’s what sets us apart, and it’s what we look for in the leaders we hire.

Our purpose is simple:

To make our world a better place by being a bright spot in the lives we touch, one employee, one guest, and one community at a time.

We believe our success starts with our people. That means developing others, building trust, welcoming new ideas, recognizing contributions, holding ourselves accountable, and having the courage to do what’s right.

We still know how to have fun, our mascot is a skunk, after all. But take a close look at Pete: he’s got his gloves on.
