We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Rolling Stock Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of mobile equipment. Starting Pay: Base pay for this skilled position will start at $35.00 to $38.00 per hour. People with significant knowledge and experience may come in at a higher level.
Overtime: This position is eligible for Overtime at time and a half.
Commute Pay: All Mill employees receive a $350/month fringe benefit to help with the cost of commuting and transportation. This is the equivalent of another $2.00 per hour for full-time employees.
Healthcare: Stimson pays over 80% of the premiums for healthcare coverage for full-time employees, including medical, dental and vision.
401(k): Stimson provides a 100% match on the first 6% of your pay when you contribute to your 401(k) retirement account.
Profit Sharing: Contributions are deposited annually into your 401(k) account for Profit Sharing, up to 3% of your pay.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible and will receive a discretionary bonus in years when the company and location are profitable.
Paid Time-Off: Position offers 9 paid holidays and 2 weeks of paid vacation. Paid sick leave is available up to 40 hours per year.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on all rolling stock equipment.
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance on time and document follow up repairs that are needed.
- Work overtime and occasionally weekends as needed to complete PM’s and repairs on time.
- Follow tasks/projects through completion including documentation, spare parts ordering, and closing work orders.
- Work with operators and management to coordinate scheduled maintenance and ensure production is not hindered.
- Steam clean/wash rolling stock equipment at scheduled intervals.
- Ensure the equipment is safe and ready to use. Tagout equipment when the machine is not safe for use.
- Keep your workspace and tools clean and maintained
- Coordinate with vendors as needed to get parts quotes and make emergency service calls as needed
- Comply with all company work and safety rules as well as related industry regulations. Be a proactive part of improving and maintaining equipment. Be open to help where you are needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A minimum of 5 years industrial equipment
- Thorough working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in forklifts and rolling stock.
- Provide clear written and oral communication and maintain open lines of communication with all departments and personnel necessary to ensure proper operation and maintenance of rolling stock equipment.
- Ability to operate all facility rolling stock equipment to the degree needed for troubleshooting, testing, and training.
- Be willing to learn new skills as needed to maintain updated machinery.
- Possess basic machinist capabilities such as drilling and tapping.
- Ability to fabricate and weld using oxy-acetylene torch, plasma torch, SMAW, and GMAW.
- Able to read and interpret prints, drawings, troubleshooting manuals, and electrical schematics.
- Possess basic computer skills to read and write emails, search the internet for parts, and complete work orders on CMMS.
- Understand and troubleshoot basic 12V and 24V DC electrical systems.
