Filer Trainee

Schedule:

Starting Pay:  Base pay for this entry level position will start at $21.50/hour.  People with significant experience may come in at a higher level.  The range for Production Workers is $21.50-25/hour.

Overtime:  This position is eligible for Overtime at $32.25/hour.

Commute Pay:  All Mill employees receive a $350/month fringe benefit to help with the cost of commuting and transportation.  This is the equivalent of another $2.00 per hour for full-time employees.

Healthcare:  Stimson pays 80% of the premiums for healthcare coverage for full-time employees, including medical, dental and vision.

401(k):  Stimson provides a 100% match on the first 6% of your pay when you contribute to your 401(k)-retirement account.

Profit Sharing:  Contributions are deposited annually into your 401(k) account for Profit Sharing, up to 3% of your pay.

Bonus:  This position is bonus eligible and will receive a discretionary bonus in years when the company and location are profitable.

Paid Time-Off:  Position offers 9 paid holidays and 2 weeks of paid vacation.  Paid sick leave is available up to 3 days per year.

Employee Referral program:  Earn a $2500 minimum bonus for a successful referral

Responsibilities:

In the role, the trainee will begin with training in the band saw fitter position; one of five positions that the trainee will train in. The trainee will progress into the other five positions in the saw filing department upon successful completion of job evaluations.

• Learn and become proficient in skills related to the band saw fitter positions, these skills will include:
  • Routine maintenance
  • Reading micrometer and calipers
  • Identifying right and left hand saws
  • Saw sharpening
  • Welding and patching of stellite teeth
  • Pouring babbit
  • Maintaining and aligning band saw sharpeners
  • Identifying cracks in saws
• Perform housekeeping in filing room to ensure a clean and safe work environment
• Maintaining and supporting safe work practices
• Ability to work independently when proficient in required skills 

Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Employee’s in the saw filing department are required to bring necessary tools to perform tasks in the filing room up front, if employee’s tools wear out or break on the job, Stimson will replace the worn out or broken tools
• Team player and highly self-motivated individual
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Willingness to advance into other skilled saw filing positions
