The Opportunity
As a Production Welder at Stillwell, you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal components to specification using MIG welding techniques. You will interpret blueprints, prepare materials, perform accurate welds, and inspect work to ensure the highest quality standards while maintaining a safe and organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints and job specifications
- Perform MIG welding on metal components to meet quality standards
- Measure, cut, and prepare materials for fabrication
- Set up and operate welding equipment and tools
- Inspect welds for accuracy, strength, and quality
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic fabrication or weld issues
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment
- Safely operate cranes and material-handling equipment as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of MIG welding experience or relevant training (school or apprenticeship)
- Ability to read basic blueprints and follow work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to working safely
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS or equivalent welding certifications
- Experience with hand welding and TIG welding
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or hydraulics environment
- Familiarity with operating CNC or automated welding equipment
- Experience working in continuous improvement environments (5S, Lean)
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills beyond welding
- Forklift certification or crane operation experience
