We are seeking Part-Time Paraprofessionals to join our team! You will act as a support in therapeutic groups and classrooms at the secondary level in a private school.
Stillwater Academy – South Jordan, UT
Position: Language Arts & Spanish Paraprofessional
Hours: Monday-Friday 6:50am-12:30pm, with additional faculty meeting Mondays 12:30-1:30 and monthly Professional Development, typically the last Wednesday of the month, from 12:30-2:00. Stillwater is open all-yearlong with 9 non-paid holidays off per year. Typically 28-30 hours per week.
Starting Date: Training to start immediately
Rate: Pay varies from $18-$20/hour based on level of education, expertise, years of experience, and educator licenses. This is an hourly position with no PTO or paid holidays.
Summary: Stillwater Academy is a relationship-focused, family-oriented therapeutic school serving teens ages 14–18 from across the U.S. and Canada. We offer residential, day-treatment, and intensive outpatient programs that help students get their lives back on track by combining a supportive classroom environment with individual, family, and equine therapy. Classes typically have 8-12 students. We have a total enrollment of approximately 25-35 students.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Student Mentor before school by attending a therapeutic group in the morning
- Take notes for the therapeutic group
- Supervise students between activities
- Assist students during Study Halls (30 min Tues & Thurs, 1.5 hours Wed)
- Act as a support and tutor to assist students in the classroom and study hall
- Assist the classroom teacher with any tasks they request
- Have expertise in Language Arts and Spanish
- Substitute the class if the lead teacher is out
- Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce lessons and help them learn concepts
- Understand and help facilitate accommodations and modifications for learning differences
- Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and coworkers
- Enforce Stillwater rules and expectations with kindness
- Maintain the health and safety of all students
- Openly receive feedback to promote growth and continuous improvement
Qualifications:
- Expertise in Language Arts – assisting, editing, and providing feedback in reading comprehension, writing, summarizing, and analysis.
- Expertise in Spanish – read, write, and speak at a professional working fluency
- Preferred bachelor’s degree or higher
- Preferred current teaching license in secondary education
- Previous experience in teaching or other educational fields
- Preferred experience in therapeutic setting
- Ability to build rapport with students
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills
- Team player
