About the Opportunity

Stillpoint AEC is partnering with a growing commercial electrical contractor serving clients throughout the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Baltimore markets. The company supports a diverse portfolio of commercial electrical work, including multifamily construction and renovations, large commercial facilities, service work, and 24/7 reactive maintenance.

The company is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to take significant ownership of its estimating and bidding function. This is a critical hire for the organization as it continues to grow, with a strong existing project pipeline and consistent volume of new opportunities requiring accurate, competitive bids.

This is not a takeoff-only position. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for managing bids from initial drawing and specification review through final proposal delivery, working closely with company leadership, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial electrical estimates from initial bid review through final proposal submission
• Perform detailed takeoffs from electrical drawings, specifications, addenda, and other bid documents
• Develop labor hours and apply appropriate production rates, material pricing, and project-specific cost assumptions
• Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor quotations
• Review drawings and specifications to identify scope gaps, exclusions, risks, and potential cost impacts
• Prepare RFIs, clarifications, qualifications, and scope documentation throughout the bidding process
• Develop detailed, well-supported proposals for submission to general contractors and clients
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project meetings as required
• Coordinate awarded projects with operations, including clean budget handoffs, vendor information, scope summaries, and estimating assumptions
• Track bid results and project cost variances to continuously improve estimating accuracy and future pricing
• Work closely with company leadership on bid strategy, project selection, pricing, and estimating priorities

Qualifications

• Prior experience estimating commercial electrical construction projects
• Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, materials, labor requirements, and project costs
• Ability to independently read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract documents
• Working knowledge of NEC requirements and their impact on project scope and cost
• Experience developing complete estimates beyond initial takeoffs, including labor, materials, vendor pricing, subcontractor pricing, scope review, and final proposal preparation
• Proficiency with electrical estimating software such as Trimble, Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or comparable platforms
• Experience with digital takeoff and plan review platforms such as Bluebeam Revu preferred
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple bids and meet demanding submission deadlines
• Ability to communicate effectively with general contractors, clients, vendors, subcontractors, field personnel, and company leadership
• Previous electrical field experience as an electrician, foreman, superintendent, or similar role is beneficial but not required
• Federal or government contracting experience is beneficial but not required
