The Civil Engineer will play a key role in the planning, design, and execution of site development projects while collaborating with developers, municipalities, architects, surveyors, and multidisciplinary project teams. Responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee civil engineering designs for commercial, mixed-use, multifamily, residential, industrial, institutional, and community development projects
- Design site layouts, grading plans, storm drainage systems, utility infrastructure, erosion control plans, and construction documents
- Perform stormwater management, hydrologic, and hydraulic analyses
- Coordinate permitting efforts with local municipalities, regulatory agencies, and reviewing authorities
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and supporting documentation
- Collaborate with surveyors, planners, architects, landscape architects, and other project consultants
- Participate in client meetings and maintain strong working relationships throughout project delivery
- Support project scheduling, budgeting, and technical coordination efforts
- Review plans and specifications to ensure quality, constructability, and compliance with applicable regulations
- Assist with construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals, and field coordination
- Support and mentor junior engineering staff as appropriate
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
- Strong experience in civil site design and land development engineering required
- PE preferred; candidates actively progressing toward PE licensure and nearing completion of the licensing process will also be considered
- Strong experience with grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility design, and site development projects
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D required
- Experience preparing construction documents and permitting packages required
- Familiarity with Tennessee development regulations and permitting processes preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and client-facing skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities within a consulting environment
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
