Job Duties & Responsibilities
Initiates and completes daily production operations, through personal interaction with production employees, floor response to immediate problems, and work guidance to employees. Adheres to production schedule, meeting scheduled forecast, delivering efficiency/quality goals and directing the line changes as required. Interfaces directly with production scheduler, ensuring changes are completed to deliver production requirements. Oversees the maintenance of appropriate levels of labor and general conformance with STIHL employee rules, as directed by the supervisor. Issues counseling and verbal warnings. Administers written disciplinary measures when necessary under guidance of the supervisor. Administers performance reviews for direct line employees. May participate in internal programs such as communications, vacation schedules, job evaluation, employee performance reviews wage administration, etc., as needed. Assists in the selection of new candidates, including participating in the interview process. Implements engineering, manufacturing or logistical projects as and when required. Pursues process improvements through reduction of waste and cycle times through various formal improvement methods, including KVP/Kaizen activities. Implements and maintains work instructions. Ensures work instructions are relevant to task being performed. Interfaces closely with process engineering, QA and maintenance, ensuring key equipment is operating within acceptable parameters. Ensures drawings and tooling specifications are maintained. Monitors automatic stations, ensuring process capability and reliability are obtained. Ensures all processes are OSHA compliant and that all associates are working in a safe and correct manner. Ensures all work stations are ergonomically compliant before introduction into the assembly environment. Ensures quality procedures and plans are being maintained; monitors and evaluates performance, initiating recommendations and corrective action where needed. Verifies all maintenance work carried out within department meets required standards. Performs post audit to ensure satisfactory completion. Receives and clarifies work orders and participates in the set-up of departmental machines and/or work processes to complete the required duties in a timely and cost effective manner. Monitors daily production, work completion, and/or personnel performance to ensure proper part/product/work order completion with respect to all quality and quantity standards. Assists in possible work process changes required by availability of raw materials, order completion requirements, or other operations requirements, ensuring all required changeovers are completed. Completes logs and other work diaries required to monitor quantity and type of items produced or processed. Assists with the completion of other departmental paperwork as necessary. Ensures department is ISO, process audit, PIA and 5S compliant and that all relevant documentation is updated on a timely basis. Responds to procedural problems or technical questions of employees with respect to quality, part usage, or other requirements. Refers difficult or unusual questions to departmental supervisor. Trains employees in proper work methods for safe and efficient performance of job duties and recognition of items to be completed. Schedules and works overtime in line with production requirements. Communicates schedule changes to production team. All work affecting product quality shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills, and experience. Performs other related duties as assigned or needed.
