What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Carpenter position at Stifel Theatre?
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position under direction from the Maintenance Foreman will be responsible for performing skilled work in the maintenance and repair of facilities. This position will assist in the implementation of a safety program, and a preventative maintenance plan. Provide assistance as well as direction in the preparation of all events to include but not limited to set-up, operation and tear down. Provide and assist in the coordination between staff, potential client, and promoters as needed for the successful presentation of events.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a multipurpose facility environment. Required knowledge and experience in the setup of all events but is not limited to the following concerts, special events, Broadway, trade shows, family shows, religious events, political events…etc.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the effectiveness of building operations and maintenance with regards to equipment, components, systems, and structures.
- Assist the Maintenance Foreman in the facilities readiness condition, ability to support events, event conversion and day-to-day operations within the maintenance field.
- Manage a crew of casual laborers to facilitate conversions and assist with tasks.
- Performs repair, demolition and new construction of interior and exterior walls and partitions, works with gypsum board, wooden and metal studs and furring systems, lays out the grid work for suspended ceiling systems, and constructs custom countertops and cabinetry.
- Installs and repairs and replaces hardware for doors and cabinets, installs and replaces flooring and stair materials.
- Performs maintenance and repairs to walls, ceiling, roof, ramps, docks, overhead doors, and other interior and exterior building structures and systems.
- Review event schedules, plumbing reports, equipment conditions, parts and material inventories and cost to maximize effectiveness of the plumbing systems.
- Knowledge and experience in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, heating systems, piping, boilers, pumps, lavatory equipment etc.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with good industry practices and safety regulations.
- Responsible to the Maintenance Foreman for the facilities readiness condition, ability to support events, and day-to-day operations.
- Operate forklift equipment for events truck loading and un-loading.
- Assist in the maintenance, repairs with regards to production, equipment, components, systems, and structures.
- To conduct physical inspections for adherence to facility standards of productivity, equipment, proper use of materials and equipment, quality control, supply inventory and personal appearance.
- Help support our goal of providing “an unparalleled guest experience” through thoughtful leadership, professionalism and teamwork across all departments, trades, third party contractors, promoters, event coordinators, corporate sponsors and business partners of the Enterprise Center, St. Louis Blues and Stifel Theatre.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work long irregular hours and possess good verbal and written communication and team building skills.
- This position must be proficient in computer knowledge such as Microsoft Office, ISS 24/7…etc.
- Remain calm and professional in all situations
- Apply Industry Established Safety Standards; coordinate with the Maintenance Foreman on all safety related issues.
- Maintain proper dress attire for self and all personnel assigned as instructed by Stifel Theatre.
- Assist and work side-by-side with all other departments whenever required.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or equivalent Job experience in the related field. This position will be required to have the ability to read blueprints or AutoCAD drawings and write at a level necessary for a successful job performance.
CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Attend meetings and conferences as it relates to the maintenance functions and components of the Stifel Theatre.
