Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly at the front desk at times, manage check-in and check-out processes, and ensure excellent patient service.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process claims using systems like Epic, and Availability.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using medical scheduling software; coordinate with providers to optimize daily clinic flow.
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy and completeness; update patient files in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Assist with medical billing and coding tasks, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to ensure proper reimbursement.
- Manage phone inquiries with professional phone etiquette; handle multi-line phone systems to direct calls appropriately.
- Support clinical staff with intake procedures, medical documentation review, and care plan preparations to streamline patient visits.
- Maintain organized filing of medical records, reports, and correspondence; ensure compliance with health information management standards.
- Utilize computer skills to operate office equipment such as 10-key typing devices and Microsoft Office applications for documentation purposes.
- Verify insurance benefits for Medicare and other payers; assist in insurance verification processes to facilitate smooth billing workflows.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office or clinic environment is highly preferred; familiarity with medial terminology is a plus for clinic roles.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic,
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and medical billing practices to accurately process claims and documentation.
- Experience with health information management systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix enhances your ability to support clinical operations effectively.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with clerical experience in office management or front desk roles are crucial for success in this position.
