WHAT YOUR DAY AS A STAFF ACCOUNTANT LOOKS LIKE
As a Staff Accountant, you will spend your days managing collections and cash flow by monitoring customer accounts receivable aging reports, reaching out to delinquent accounts via email and phone, and logging all communications and payment arrangements. You will escalate accounts to third-party collectors or legal channels when necessary and provide daily reporting on receivables and key performance indicators. Your work will also include reconciling bank and credit card transactions, processing accounts payable and receivable with precise invoice matching and posting, and collaborating with HR to prepare payroll entries for controller review.
Some things you will learn to do:
You will maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts throughout the month, prepare financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports in line with GAAP, and assist with month-end and year-end closings, including journal entries for accruals, reclassifications, fixed assets, and depreciation. In addition, you will support audit processes by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with state, local, and federal tax laws, including 1099 filings and periodic submissions.
YOU'LL WORK THESE HOURS AS OUR STAFF ACCOUNTANT
This is a full-time position. You'll work closely with our Controller and Finance Manager in a collaborative, professional environment.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 2 years of progressive accounting experience
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage) and advanced Excel skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Experience in handling accounts receivable collections and working with delinquent accounts
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and clear verbal and written communication skills
Experience in a construction, contractor, or service-based environment is preferred.
