Duties
- Oversee daily dispatch operations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of concrete products using vehicle dispatch software and transportation management systems.
- Manage customer inquiries via multi-line phone systems, providing excellent service through clear communication and professional phone etiquette.
- Coordinate with sales teams to fulfill customer orders, verifying product availability and scheduling deliveries efficiently.
- Supervise dispatch staff, assigning routes, monitoring driver performance, and ensuring compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations.
- Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS technology to optimize routing, improve transportation planning, and enhance overall logistics efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of shipments, freight documentation, shipping & receiving logs, and dispatch activities with precision through data entry and internal communication channels.
- Collaborate closely with fleet management to monitor vehicle maintenance, track fleet performance, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of road transportation operations, logistics, and freight management principles.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms.
- Experience with vehicle dispatch software, fleet management tools, and shipping & receiving processes.
- Excellent analysis skills for route optimization, freight planning, and problem-solving within supply chain contexts.
- Effective communication skills for internal coordination via multi-line phones, phone call management, and customer service interactions.
- Organizational skills necessary for multitasking across dispatching duties, data entry, documentation, and scheduling.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations to ensure compliance during all transportation activities.
