Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role located in Winona, MS for a Conservation Specialist at STEWARD LINK. As an entry-level Conservation Specialists you will assist in the creation, maintenance, and processing of conservations plans. A typical day will include working with maps, excel, forms, and helping to develop and implement innovative technology solutions to accomplish these tasks in the most efficient manner. Your goal will be to facilitate a seamless onboarding experience for our clients. You will be responsible for ensuring that new land stewards are given the proper attention. You will need to analyze properties, and work with land owners and STEWARD LINK consultants to complete the correct forms, and help ensure communications with county field office contacts across the country are completed in a timely fashion. The Conservation Specialist will be responsible for developing conservation plans nationwide, conducting field assessments, providing technical support, and building relationships with stakeholders. The Conservation Specialist will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify new project opportunities and provide customized solutions. This person will also have the opportunity to attain the certification of Technical Service Provider with the Natural Resource Conservation Service.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with land owners to determine best conservation practices.
- Design and document conservation plans for land stewards.
- Create and evaluate applications with a high focus on efficiencies and customer solutions.
- Work with in-house operations to assist with the development of short and long-term in-house processes.
- Collaborate strong relationships with selected partners, consultants, and retailers' country-wide.
- Maintain neat and organized data for a wide number of Conservation plans.
- Ensure clients adhere to USDA compliance.
- Communicate with land owners in a positive interpersonal manner.
- Help to ensure timely and accurate billing processes.
- Prepare reports that facilitate processes, and provide management with an understanding of where certain tasks lie in that process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or hands-on experience in Agronomy, Forestry, and/or Wildlife Biology or related field preferred but not required
- Ability to commute and/or relocate to Central Mississippi
- Ability to remain positive under pressured or stressful situations
- Experience in developing conservation plans, and implementing restoration projects preferred but not required
- Proven ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including landowners, agencies, partners, and nonprofits
- Excellent project management, communication, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in project management tools and software like ArcGIS, Microsoft Excel, and other data management tools; extra proficiencies in managing large sets of data are preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Willingness to work outdoors and travel locally as needed
