Accounting Manager
West Palm Beach, FL Hybrid (4 days in office, Fridays remote)
Overview
A publicly traded, acquisitive organization is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead its consolidation and financial close processes. This role oversees intercompany accounting, consolidations and related reporting, manages a team of two, and partners with operating companies and cross-functional teams to resolve complex accounting matters. The company is in the middle of an SAP S/4HANA implementation, has more acquisitions planned, and is significantly growing its West Palm Beach finance team, which creates real visibility and room for growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and review the work of a team of two accounting professionals
- Partner with operating companies on the timely submission of monthly financial results, serving as the main point of contact for questions and issue resolution
- Review and post adjusting journal entries
- Review and compile the month-end close binder and supporting documentation, including accounting memos, to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies and controls
- Manage annual goodwill impairment testing, including evaluation of market conditions and coordination with operating companies on projections
- Assist with accounting for business combinations, including purchase price allocations and valuation of intangible assets
- Research technical accounting guidance and prepare memos documenting GAAP conclusions
- Identify and execute process improvement projects
- Support the SAP S/4HANA implementation and internal control initiatives
- Assist with due diligence on potential acquisitions and other special projects
- Occasional weekend work during peak close periods
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 6 years of accounting experience, with public accounting or a combination of public and industry preferred; candidates with industry-only experience at a large, complex organization will be considered
- Direct people management experience required
- CPA strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP; consolidations, intercompany and close experience
- Advanced Excel skills
Compensation
$130,000 to $150,000 base plus 12.5% annual bonus target, with a full benefits package including 401(k) match, employee stock purchase plan and education reimbursement.
