We are seeking an experienced Custom Cabinet Production Manager / Shop Foreman to lead our production team and ensure our shop operates efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Position Summary
The Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the cabinet manufacturing shop. This role manages shop employees, coordinates production schedules, ensures product quality, resolves technical manufacturing issues, and works closely with Project Managers to ensure projects are completed accurately and delivered on time.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with extensive custom cabinetry experience who enjoys mentoring employees, solving production challenges, and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, lead, and motivate shop employees.
- Schedule daily and weekly production activities to maximize efficiency.
- Ensure projects are completed on time while meeting production deadlines.
- Maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality control.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges for shop employees.
- Review drawings and specifications to ensure accurate production.
- Coordinate with Project Managers regarding production schedules, priorities, and project updates.
- Manage finish sample requests and coordinate timely preparation with the finishing department.
- Monitor workflow and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Train and mentor new and existing employees on shop procedures and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized shop.
- Assist with material planning and communicate inventory needs when necessary.
- Inspect completed cabinetry before shipment to ensure it meets company quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing process.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in custom cabinet manufacturing.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of woodworking machinery, cabinet construction methods, and shop operations.
- Ability to read and interpret cabinet shop drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
