Our farming operation is primarily that of small grains including corn, wheat, oats, beans, barley, rye, millet, soybeans, and hay. We start preparing our equipment (springs work) in February so that it will be ready to go for seeding in April, weather permitting. Harvesting should begin in August and finishing up in October at which time we start to do more of our fall work, which includes, but is not limited to cover, crop seeding and then also winterizing all equipment and hauling any sold products to market. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers, guide products on conveyors to regulate flow through machines, and to discard diseased or rotten products, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers, load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, position boxes or attach bags at discharge ends of machinery to catch products, removing and closing full containers, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, record agricultural data, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping, load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities, operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures, clean equipment or facilities, harvest agricultural products, load agricultural or forestry products for shipment, maintain forestry, hunting, or agricultural equipment, operate farming equipment, plant crops, trees, or other plants, prepare land for agricultural use, transport animals, crops, or equipment. Employer may, at its sole discretion, provide pay increases based on longevity or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.
