What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitation Technician position at Steuben Foods?
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Sanitation Technician – Grade 1 to support food safety, sanitation, and waste-handling operations within our manufacturing facility. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a clean, compliant, and efficient plant environment.
- Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
- Driving fork lift – holds license
- Driving floor scrubber – holds license
- Walk behind floor scrubber
- General foam cleaning
- Ability to properly use hand cleaning tools
- Hook up steel totes for CIP
Ensure food safety and product quality by following all sanitation and safety procedures
Operate dry and wet compactors; clean bays during change-outs
Operate cardboard baler, including strapping, weighing, storage, and trailer loading
Transfer waste between inside and outside tankers; coordinate removal of full units and spotting of empty units
Clean and foam floors, walls, waste tanks, floor grates, and designated sanitation areas
Dump pallets of finished product, outdated ingredients, and waste totes as needed
Set up and remove metal totes used in CIP processes
Load used drums, unload cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, and reload empty containers
Complete load sheets and required documentation accurately
Communicate with APOs regarding space constraints or potential waste issues
Initial MSS sheets to acknowledge completed responsibilities
Perform seasonal duties such as snow removal and grounds policing
Support special projects as directed by the Plant Sanitarian
Perform all other duties as assigned
