Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Be capable of standing and/or sitting at assigned workstation and handling motion of line to visually inspect product as it rolls past on roller table. Must look at product being picked out.
- Remove off-grade or defective potatoes based on customer specs. Ensure proper handling of potatoes. Handle them as if they were eggs. Do not throw, drop, or tamper with product - this can result in dismissal.
- Develop understanding of individual customer expectations/specs for product and communicate at grading table.
- Take direction from QC Line Lead. Review board to understand special details of customer requirements. Alert production and/or QC immediately.
- Develop understanding of food safety as it pertains to the condition of the potatoes being packed. Maintain communication with managers, production lead, and supervisors with regard to significant product changes within the run.
- Report any findings of objects other than potatoes to Production Lead/Supervisor as well as Nancy.
- Receive feedback from QC Inspector on needed changes for pick out. Grade less or harder based on feedback.
- Assist with on-the-job training of co-workers and act as mentor.
- Notify Production Manager or QC of any problems with product as soon as possible.
- Assist in: making trays, cartons, skids, displays, rock picking, dumping bags, re-bale product, specialty room, packing shed, washing, and cleaning when necessary.
- As needed, assist in other areas of the warehouse, possibly assembling packaging, labeling packaging, hand-packing specialty product or cleaning.
- Be aware of usage of machinery such as safety practices, stop button, controls, etc.
- Change chains as needed.
- Must understand that working hours will be irregular.
- Other duties as assigned.
