Medical Insurance Verification Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate insurance verification for our patients. This position requires a strong understanding of managed care, medical terminology, and coding practices.

Duties

• Conduct thorough insurance verifications for both medical and vision patients to ensure coverage and eligibility.
• Review and interpret insurance policies, benefits, and limitations.
• Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to patient coverage.
• Maintain accurate records of insurance information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 for proper documentation and billing processes.
• Collaborate with other team members to enhance patient experience.
• Assist in ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
• Provide support in training new staff on insurance verification procedures as needed.

Experience

• Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with managed care systems and processes is highly desirable.
• Proficient understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding, and insurance verification procedures.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
