Job Summary

Sterling Therapy Solutions is seeking a highly skilled ICU Registered Nurse for a dynamic night-shift contract in Prescott, Arizona. This assignment covers a large, diverse critical-care service line—ranging from CVICU to MSICU to PCU—and is ideal for the confident ICU nurse who thrives on variety, complexity, and true collaboration.

Blended Roles & Responsibilities

(A refined blend of VMS details Sterling enhancements)

• Deliver high-quality critical-care nursing in a multi-unit structure including CVICU (12 beds), COVID ICU (8 beds), MSICU (8 beds), and PCU (16–20 beds).
• Maintain safe ICU ratios of 1:1–1:2 depending on patient acuity and staffing.
• Float within the critical care service line and to PCU/MST/EC ICU as part of regular rotation.
• Provide comprehensive assessments, strong clinical judgment, and timely interventions for complex patients.
• Manage a broad range of diagnoses including:

COVID critical care, DKA, sepsis, ARF, post-MI, detox, rhabdo, PN, EVD, chest tubes, art lines, Swan-Ganz, fresh surgical, TAVR, Impella, CRRT (PrismaFlex), VADs, STEMI, PCI, cardiac surgical patients, and more.

• Interpret ABGs accurately and independently.
• Titrate advanced critical care drips including:

Levo, vasopressors, paralytics, sedation drips (propofol), antiarrhythmics, dopa, heparin, argatroban, and other standard ICU infusions.

• Assist with vent weaning, troubleshooting, and respiratory collaboration using equipment such as HFNC, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, and glidescopes.
• Independently read cardiac telemetry using Nihon Kohden systems.
• Work collaboratively with 24/7 intensivist team and house supervisors who support rapid response and code coverage.
• Complete orientation including hospital onboarding, unit shifts with a preceptor, and device-specific checkoffs if required.
• Participate in a flexible schedule made four weeks in advance, with partial self-scheduling opportunities.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required.
• Strong EKG interpretation skills required.
• Preferred: experience with IABP, Swan-Ganz, CRRT (PrismaFlex), Impella, and post-open-heart care.
• Ability to manage complex, high-acuity critical care environments.

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program (ADN or BSN).

Certifications

• Active Arizona RN license or Compact RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong airway, sepsis, ventilator, and hemodynamic management experience.
• Ability to titrate drips in a fast-paced ICU setting.
• Excellent independent decision-making, teamwork, and documentation skills.
• Comfortable floating across ICU and PCU settings.
• Skilled in troubleshooting critical-care equipment.
