Job Description:
Seeking experienced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurses for night shifts. This is a 13-week travel assignment for highly qualified candidates.
Job Title: RN (Registered Nurse) – PICU
Location: Bakersfield, CA 93301
Job Type: Travel / Contract
Shift: 12 hrs Nights, Every Other Weekend
Duration: 13 Weeks
Unit Details:
- Unit: PICU (8 beds, average census 2)
- Patient Care: Pediatric patients with respiratory failure, dehydration, seizures, diabetic ketoacidosis, suicide attempts, overdoses, poisoning, and ventilator care.
- Staffing Ratios: 1:2
- Charge Nurse: Rarely
- Telemonitors: Spacelab, nurses must read own strips
- EMR: Cerner
Requirements:
- Minimum 2–3 years PICU experience
- BLS and PALS certification required
- RN license required
- Use of Medfusion pumps
Orientation:
- Hours: 12
- Floor-Specific Orientation: 2 shifts PICU, 1 shift general peds, 1 shift burn unit (non-burn care)
Shift & Floating Details:
- Shifts: 7a–7p or 7p–7a
- Travelers are first to float to general peds & burn unit (NICU voluntary)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: 2 out of 3
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
