Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform surveillance for multiple hospitals, observing cardiopulmonary rhythms via a central monitoring station
- Accurately identify cardiac rhythms, rhythm disturbances, and potentially dangerous arrhythmias
- Follow established protocols for escalation and communication with on-site nurses when changes occur
- Maintain continuous situational awareness to ensure patient safety and timely intervention
- Document rhythm changes per facility standards
- Support emergency processes with prompt notification and coordinated communication
- Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and directors
- Uphold strict adherence to privacy, safety, and no-cell-phone workplace policies
- Participate in department orientation and any required virtual or in-person training sessions
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent related experience in cardiac monitoring or similar role (3 years preferred)
- Ability to commit to 2–3 day shifts for required orientation
- Must adhere to 50-mile radius rule (no local candidates)
Education
- Completion of an accredited program that includes EKG Interpretation
- High school diploma or equivalent required; related healthcare certification preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong ability to interpret cardiac rhythms, dysrhythmias, and arrhythmias
- Excellent concentration and multitasking skills
- Ability to follow protocols for routine and emergency communications
- Strong documentation, attention to detail, and critical thinking
- Comfort with advanced monitoring software (GE / Ascom systems preferred)
- Works effectively in a high-volume environment monitoring up to 60 patients
