Blended Roles & Responsibilities
As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a vital role in surgical success by:
- Performing decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and high-level disinfection of surgical instruments
- Operating and maintaining advanced sterilization systems including Steris, V-Pro, and Medivators
- Ensuring proper handling and storage of sterile supplies and surgical trays
- Conducting quality checks to verify sterility and functionality of instruments
- Supporting high-acuity trauma cases by ensuring rapid and accurate turnaround of surgical sets
- Following strict infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
- Documenting all processes accurately within electronic systems
- Collaborating with perioperative teams to ensure seamless surgical support
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Sterile Processing
- Active CRCST (HSPA) or CBSPD certification – Required
- Active BLS (AHA) Certification – Required
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate Degree or technical training in central sterile processing preferred
- Valid Driver’s License required (must meet travel radius requirements)
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Formal training in sterile processing or surgical services preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of sterilization principles and infection control practices
- Experience with Steris, V-Pro, and Medivator equipment
- Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and assembly techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume trauma environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift trays, and work in warm/humid environments
- Comfortable working with electronic documentation systems
