This 13-week night shift contract places you in a Level II NICU where you’ll care for preterm infants, multiples, and newborns facing complex challenges. If you thrive in high-responsibility environments and want to be part of a team that attends high-risk deliveries and supports neonatal rapid response, this is your next calling.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a NICU RN, you’ll provide specialized care to neonates from 22 weeks gestation and up. You’ll manage ventilators, monitor GE telemetry, and respond to emergencies with precision. You’ll also serve in a “runner” role for high-risk deliveries and C-sections, supporting the rapid response team for neonates.
Patient Types & Diagnoses:
- Preterm infants
- Neonatal drug withdrawal
- Respiratory distress (oscillators, vents)
- Multiples and low birth weight
Unit Details:
- 31-bed Level II NICU
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3
- Cerner EMR system
- Navy scrubs required
- No ECMO or surgeries
- No floating required
Qualifications
- Active RN license (CA )
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience
- BLS (AHA) & NRP certifications required
- STABLE certification preferred
- BSN not required
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator and oscillator management
- Neonatal resuscitation and rapid response
- Strong assessment and IV skills
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with neonatologists and RTs
