Shift Type: Noc Shift (Night Shift)
Shift Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | 12-Hour Shifts
Hours per Week: 36 Hours
Job Summary
Join a high-performing acute care team as a Medical/Surgical Telemetry Registered Nurse and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative hospital environment. You will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient outcomes while sharpening your telemetry and acute care expertise.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to medical, surgical, and telemetry patients
- Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac telemetry rhythms
- Provide care for post-cardiac catheterization and total joint replacement patients
- Manage patients with CHF, respiratory conditions, GI disorders, diabetes, and neurological conditions such as CVA/TIA
- Administer medications and maintain set-rate IV drips as ordered
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Float to comparable units when required to maintain safe staffing
- Maintain timely and accurate electronic documentation
Qualifications
- Active RN License (Compact or state eligible)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care or telemetry nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to pass a telemetry/dysrhythmia exam prior to contract start
- Experience with basic telemetry rhythm interpretation required
- Experience with CVA/TIA patients and post joint replacement care preferred
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN preferred, not required)
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
- Solid clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
- Familiarity with Cardizem/Diltiazem drips at set rates
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (Cerner experience preferred)
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently on night shifts
