Labor & Delivery RN – Travel Contract (Family Birthing Center)
Location: Sacramento, California
Start Date: 01/06/2026
End Date: 04/06/2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract (13 Weeks)
Shift Type: Night Shift (12-Hour Nights)
Hours per Week: 36 Hours/Week
We are actively hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to join a high-acuity Family Birthing Center. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you will provide comprehensive care across Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP).
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide expert nursing care for laboring, delivering, and postpartum patients
- Perform couplet care for mother and newborn
- Circulate Cesarean sections and assist in the OR
- Administer and titrate medications including Pitocin
- Perform fetal monitoring using electronic fetal monitoring systems
- Function as “baby catcher” (NRP role) when assigned
- Respond to obstetric emergencies and high-risk situations
- Accurately document care in Cerner EMR
- Float to postpartum and mother-baby units as needed
Qualifications:
- Active California RN License
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care L&D experience
- Ability to circulate C-sections and manage high-risk labor patients
- Comfortable working in all aspects of LDRP care
Education:
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Certifications Required:
- BLS, ACLS, NRP
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN Advanced)
- STABLE certification preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong skills in fetal heart rate interpretation
- Experience with high-risk OB, inductions, preterm labor, and cesarean deliveries
- Excellent critical thinking and patient education skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume unit
