Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Room team at our reputable healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in acute care, emergency medicine, and trauma response, with the ability to provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform venipuncture with aseptic technique while adhering to safety protocols.
- Manage airway, ventilator support, and provide advanced life support during emergencies.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, sonography, and medical imaging as needed.
- Assist with procedures such as suturing, catheterization (urinary and central lines), tube feeding management, gastric lavage, spinal tap, ostomy care, and dermal fillers when applicable.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, and coordination of post-acute or home & community care.
- Ensure infection control practices are maintained at all times to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
- Provide specialized care for diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal patients on ventilators or requiring intensive care (PICU), trauma patients in Level I/II trauma centers, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation compliant with HIPAA regulations and ensure proper medical records management.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration in the state of employment.
- Proven experience in emergency room settings or acute care environments; experience in Level I/II Trauma Centers highly preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and diagnostic evaluation procedures.
- Skills in airway management, IV insertion/infusion therapy, phlebotomy, sterile processing techniques, and infection control protocols.
- Ability to perform complex patient assessments and deliver high-quality patient care under pressure.
- Experience working with diverse populations including children (pediatric/neonatal), seniors (geriatrics), hospice & palliative medicine patients, or those requiring specialized services like dialysis or cardiac catheterization is advantageous.
- Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) are required.
