Child Care Center Cook

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our childcare center team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack, ensuring that the children receive healthy and balanced meals during their time at the center. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of food safety and nutrition principles, hold an ANSI accredited Food Protection Manager certificate, and possess at least 2 years of experience in a similar role. A background in nutrition is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare daily meals and snacks following approved menus and recipes, taking into consideration dietary restrictions and food allergies.
• Ensure that meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and appealing to children, promoting healthy eating habits.
• Create Menus.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, adhering to sanitation and food safety standards.
• Monitor and record temperatures of food storage areas and keep accurate records.
• Collaborate with the center director and staff to accommodate individual dietary needs and preferences.
• Follow portion control guidelines and minimize food waste.
• Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of nutrition.
• Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment, supporting the center's mission and values.

Qualifications:

• ANSI accredited Food Protection Manager certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in food preparation, preferably in a childcare or school setting.
• Knowledge of nutrition principles and understanding of child dietary requirements.
• Ability to follow recipes and menus, while accommodating special dietary needs.
• Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain a positive and friendly demeanor while working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
