Title: Engineering Manager – Electrical Power Systems

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Relocation assistance available)

Compensation: $180,000 – $190,000/year

Must have Skill Set:

  • Medium-voltage switchgear and substation engineering experience
  • Protection & control / relay systems expertise
  • Strong knowledge of UL, ANSI, IEEE, and NEC standards
  • Electrical engineering leadership experience (multi-site preferred)
  • Power distribution / PDU systems background
  • Engineering process improvement experience
  • OEM, EPC, or utility/power systems experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel to Dallas and Ontario, Canada


Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager – Electrical Power Systems to lead a multi-site engineering team responsible for medium-voltage switchgear, PDUs, protection & control systems, and substation equipment. This role oversees approximately 15 engineers and technical staff across the U.S. and Canada and reports to the Director of Engineering.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in power systems, switchgear, and substation engineering, combined with strong engineering management experience and a track record of driving process improvements. This role partners closely with manufacturing, mechanical engineering, testing, and project management to ensure high-quality, manufacturable designs and successful project execution.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for technical direction, team development, and cross-site engineering consistency.

Job Duties:

  • Lead design, development, testing, and validation of switchgear, PDUs, and substation systems
  • Serve as technical SME for protection & control and power distribution systems
  • Manage and develop a distributed engineering and test team
  • Drive engineering process improvements and standardization across multiple sites
  • Ensure compliance with UL, ANSI, IEEE, NEC, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, mechanical, and project teams to improve design for manufacturability
  • Oversee engineering schedules, budgets, and resource planning
  • Support hiring, training, and development of engineering staff
  • Travel to Dallas and Ontario sites to support and develop teams

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
  • 10 years of electrical engineering experience
  • 5 years in a leadership or engineering management role
  • Strong background in medium-voltage switchgear and substation systems
  • Experience with protection & control / relay systems
  • Knowledge of UL, ANSI, IEEE, and NEC standards
  • Proven leadership and process improvement experience
  • OEM, EPC, or utility experience preferred
  • Willingness to travel regularly


Salary : $175,000 - $190,000
