Job Statement
The main responsibility of the Billing Specialist is to support Sterling Capital’s billing and AR operations by ensuring accurate invoicing, timely collections, and seamless financial reporting. Champion stakeholder communication and support compliance and month-end
close processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Below is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below.
1. Prepare and issue monthly, quarterly, and annual billing statements for Sterling’s external clients in accordance with their Investment Advisory Agreements.
2. Drive timely collection of AR through proactive communication and relationship-building with the internal and external stakeholders.
3. Investigate fluctuations in month-to-month revenues and prepare a variance report to the Management.
4. Prepare quarterly revenue variance reporting and collaborate with Operations, IT, and Third-Party Software Consultants to reconcile and resolve unexplained variances.
5. Ensure compliance with all applicable Sterling policies and procedures and maintain documentation necessary for the internal and external audits.
6. Support month-end-close by preparing and posting journal entries with all appropriate back-up, analyze General Ledger account balances and month-to-month fluctuations, and preparing Balance Sheet reconciliations.
7. Develop revenue and AR-related reporting for Management to drive optimized financial decision-making.
8. Provide information to management on operating performance and profitability, interpret the information, and make recommendations for improvements to enhance productivity, mitigate financial risk, and increase operating margins.
9. Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities in collaboration with Finance and IT teams.
10. Participate in Finance and Accounting projects as assigned and fulfill other duties as needed to support department growth.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and related training in Accounting or Finance.
2. 2 years of experience in Accounting or Finance functions.
3. 1 years of experience with Billing, AR, and month-end close.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software products, specifically Microsoft Excel.
5. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, willingness to learn, and flexibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite Products, specifically MS Excel.
2. Possessing intellectual curiosity and a drive to continuously learn and improve.
