Role Description: The Hospitality Manager is a part-time, on-site role based in New York, NY, overseeing the guest experience and service standards at catered events. This role coordinates front-of-house operations, including supervising service staff, ensuring proper food and beverage presentation, and maintaining a polished, professional environment. The Hospitality Manager collaborates closely with culinary, event planning, and venue teams to execute event timelines, resolve on-site issues, and support smooth setup, service, and breakdown. Daily responsibilities include leading pre-event briefings, monitoring guest satisfaction, responding promptly to special requests, and upholding health, safety, and cleanliness standards. The role also contributes to staff training, coaching team members on hospitality best practices and Sterling Affair service expectations.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication skills to coordinate with clients, vendors, venue partners, and internal teams, and to clearly direct event staff.
- Demonstrated Customer Service and Hospitality experience focused on creating welcoming, attentive, and professional guest interactions.
- Knowledge of Food & Beverage operations, including service styles, menu execution, and basic food safety and sanitation standards.
- Experience in Training and coaching service staff to maintain consistent quality, efficiency, and adherence to brand standards.
- Previous hospitality, catering, or event management experience in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, move between event spaces, and assist with light event setup as needed.
- Effective problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event needs.
- Familiarity with New York City venues or the Tri-State events market is a plus.
