Position Summary
The Early Head Start (EHS) and/or Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ages 0–3. The teacher promotes school readiness by supporting cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development while building strong partnerships with families. Positions in several locations are available.
Key Responsibilities
· Child Development & Curriculum Implementation
- Plan and implement individualized, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with EHS/Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF).
- Use observation and assessment tools (e.g., Teaching Strategies GOLD) to track child progress.
- Support language, social-emotional, and motor development through responsive caregiving.
· Health, Safety & Supervision
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Ensure active supervision of children at all times.
- Follow all licensing, Head Start Performance Standards, and agency policies.
· Family Engagement
- Build respectful, culturally responsive relationships with families.
- Conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
- Support families in setting and achieving developmental goals for their child.
· Screening & Assessment
- Conduct developmental screenings within required timelines.
- Participate in Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) processes when applicable.
- Use data to individualize instruction.
- Conduct ongoing observations of children’s skills and ability aligned to learning outcomes.
· Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate and timely records (attendance, assessments, incident reports).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and program regulations.
· Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with co-teachers, family service workers, and specialists.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
Qualifications
- Minimum: CDA (Infant/Toddler) or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (per Head Start requirements).
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field.
- Experience working with infants and toddlers in a group setting.
- Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards preferred.
