ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Provide trauma informed case management support for disabled victims of domestic and sexual violence to include children and elderly victims.
· Serve as client liaison with area agencies for client advocacy, follow-up and evaluations of services.
· Facilitate and participate in groups and activities with other community organizations that work directly with adults and children with disabilities.
· Research and obtain knowledge about mental health, intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities and the specific needs that accompany them. Be able to create individualized plans that meet the clients’ specific needs.
· Meet regularly with other service providers for case management and consultation. Maintain and up-to-date resource list for disabled victims. Develop and maintain professional contacts with other service providers.
· Provided safety-planning for victims of domestic and sexual assault.
· Provide individual counseling for adults and children.
· Maintain client documentation on weekly basis and keep files current.
· Provide danger assessment and educate client in understanding
the outcome.
· Provides court advocacy and hospital response/advocacy as needed.
· Provide transportation for clients when needed.
· Schedule and facilitate domestic violence and educational support
groups.
· Assist parents and children when applying for local social services
benefits. (Paperwork, phone calls, transportation)
· Register children in school and communicate regularly with
school personnel.
· Coordinate regular enrichment activities for the children
during the summer and school breaks.
· Responsible for documenting consistently, completing all
relevant forms including intakes, assessments, case
management notes, quarterly and monthly grant reports.
· Enter data into VaData System.
· Assist with donations.
· Assist with keeping work areas clean and hold monthly fire drill.
· Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, out of town training,
volunteer training, and assigned MDT meetings.
· Keep up to date with policies and procedures.
· Participates in on-call rotation for crisis accompaniment for sexual
assault services.
· Practice self-care and encourage other staff and clients to as well.
· Other duties as assigned by Services Coordinator and/or Director
of Shelter Operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Knowledge of crisis intervention and family case management.
· Knowledge of the complex dynamics of dating, domestic and
sexual violence.
· Understanding of the complex issues regarding victims with
disabilities.
· Knowledge of the various community-based family service programs
and activities.
· Knowledge of conflict resolutions strategies.
· Knowledge of financial counseling and related subjects.
· Knowledge of basic housing counseling skills and techniques.
· Knowledge of diversion and targeted prevention procedures.
· Knowledge of the use of personal computers and standard office
software.
· Effective oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to accurately track and report data.
· Ability to maintain meticulous and up-to-date case files.
· Ability to correctly assess situations within scope of responsibility and
to make sound judgments within existing laws, policies, and
regulations.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
children, co-workers, and representatives of other agencies and
programs.
· Ability to plan daily activities to achieve identified goals.
· Ability to independently problem solve and provide guidance to
other team members and clients.
EDUCATION, LICENSING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
College degree or equivalent through some combination of formal education, work, and life experiences (3 to 5 years). Must be fluent in English; both verbal and written. Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office. Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License and acceptable driving record in order to operate a company vehicle. Must successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check with finger printing, CPS background check, and pre-employment drug screening.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
