Courier/Yard Helper

Stepp’s Towing & Heavy Transport is seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our team as a Courier/Yard Helper. We’re looking for candidates with a positive attitude, outstanding customer service skills, and strong problem-solving abilities.

Position Overview

The Courier/Yard Helper plays a vital role in supporting Stepp’s daily operations by ensuring safe transport, efficient yard maintenance, and reliable courier services. This versatile position requires adaptability, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.

Essential Functions

• Serve as a pilot car for oversized loads to and from pick-up and delivery locations.
• Maintain and clean the yard by removing waste and debris
• Perform courier duties, picking up and dropping off paperwork at Stepp’s lots in Tampa, Gibsonton, Lakeland, Zephyrhills, San Antonio, St. Petersburg, and occasionally Orlando.
• Be available on-call to cover Lot Attendant absences.
• Install Stepp’s Tow Away signs as required.
• Communicate effectively using a CB radio when necessary.
• Perform additional duties as assigned according to job needs.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, crawl, pull, bend, reach, and climb as needed.
• Significant physical strength and stamina required.
• Frequent use of hands and the ability to sit for prolonged periods while maintaining alertness.
• Working in an outside environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Pilot Escort license preferred (Stepp’s will provide training if needed).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing needs and solve problems as they arise.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.

Schedule

• Sunday to Friday
  • 6-day work week - TBD Day off (as-needed basis, depending on escort needs)
