What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Assistant position at Stephens Metal Products, Inc.?
We are searching for someone to fill our Maintenance Assistant position.
The main responsibility of this position is to assist our maintenance manager maintain machinery and facility functioning properly.
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Assist with routine cleaning, oiling, and greasing of production equipment to ensure optimal performance.
· Help with basic repairs and adjustments of manufacturing equipment.
· Perform general building and property maintenance, including minor electrical and plumbing fixes, painting, and moving equipment/furniture.
· Maintain a clean and organized work environment, which involves sweeping floors, taking out garbage, and removing and recycling boxes.
· Load and unload materials and stock and transport tools and work-in-progress by hand or with equipment like a forklift.
· Monitor and record inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and materials, and report low or depleted stock.
· Follow all company safety protocols and procedures, such as lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Other duties as deemed appropriate by supervisor

Qualifications:
- High School degree or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, tools, and maintenance practices preferred.
- Must be able to lift and move heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various conditions, including noisy or hot environments.
- Ability to closely follow instructions and carefully inspect finish work for quality is crucial.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are essential for collaborating with coworkers and taking directions.
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen (hair follicle)
- Comfortable working in a metals manufacturing environment.
Wage:
$19.00 - $23.00 per hour.
