Position / Title: RESPIRATORY THERAPIST
Reports To: Respiratory Therapy Director
Position Summary:
Provides optimal, achievable, respiratory care that meets the needs of patients according to their classification. Promotes and participates in positive interdisciplinary relationships by working cooperatively with other departments of the hospital as specified by the STEPHENS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL organizational plan. Possesses a thorough knowledge of STEPHENS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL standards and participates in performance improvement activities.
Knowledge and Ability: Ability to participate in emergency procedures as well as all routine respiratory care as ordered by the physician. Ability to demonstrate professional skills with critical thinking, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to schedule outpatient services in an appropriate and timely manner.
Equipment: Must be able to understand and operate all equipment used for respiratory care and testing including the handling, dispensing, and storing of therapeutic gases. Be able to have a basic knowledge of ordering respiratory supplies due to patient load.
OSHA Task Category I: Task that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue.
Job Requirements
-High School diploma
- Must have graduated from an accredited Respiratory Care Practitioners Program
- maintain a current license with the Texas Department of Health.
- Must obtain a Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR-Healthcare Provider) card with in 6 months after your hire date.
- Under special circumstances one may work under the delegation and authority of medical director over the department.
