Stephens Memorial Hospital has a job opening for a full time Maintenance Assistant.
Position Summary: The Maintenance Assistant supports the overall operation and upkeep of facility systems within a healthcare environment. This role is responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and assisting with repairs to ensure a safe, functional, and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a maintenance or related role
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Basic computer proficiency required for maintenance tracking systems and documentation
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to changing light bulbs, replacing filters, and unclogging drains
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing facility systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facility systems to identify issues and prevent disruptions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities and repairs
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, policies, and building codes
- Assist with coordinating and monitoring work performed by outside contractors and vendors
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and service calls
- Assist with setup, configuration, and resetting of facility and select medical equipment to default or operational settings, as appropriate
- Support preventive maintenance of electronic and automated facility systems
Skills:
As a Maintenance Assistant, you will use your technical skills and knowledge of maintenance best practices to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment. You will work closely with our maintenance team to troubleshoot issues and make necessary repairs. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be critical to your success in this role. Additionally, your strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to work effectively with our staff and outside contractors to ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
