What are the responsibilities and job description for the Stephens Insurance Summer Intern position at Stephens Default?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This program will be hosted at our Little Rock headquarters. Over the course of 10 weeks, interns will gain exposure to the following:
- Client Service: Claims, Risk Management Consulting, Loss Control, Insurance Program Design, and Insurance Placement Strategy
- Firm Operations: InsurTech, Finance, and Accounting Functions
- Work alongside experienced client executives and specialists in each discipline.
- Gain exposure to various insurance coverages and develop analytical skills through policy reviews and analysis.
- Learn about the data infrastructure that drives our risk management strategy.
- Participate in team meetings, client calls, and strategic planning sessions.
- Learn how brokers evaluate risk and craft tailored insurance solutions for our clients.
- Develop presentation and communication skills as part of a comprehensive capstone presentation.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program (rising Senior preferred).
- Majors: Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, and related fields.
- GPA: 3.5 or higher (or equivalent academic standing).

- Exceptional verbal, written and organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Curious and collaborative mindset.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to determine the appropriate action.
- Process management skills.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, with the ability to learn and utilize industry-specific software as required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated reliability in attendance and work performance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work with a computer for prolonged periods sitting in an office environment.
- Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, standard office equipment or tools.
- Ability to use close vision and adjust focus as needed to create accurate work product.
- Ability to speak and hear in an office environment.
- Ability to concentrate and maintain focus for long periods of time in an open office environment.
- Ability to walk, reach, lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
