What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Assistant (Technical Support) position at Stephen F. Austin University?
This is a student position responsible for assisting in providing technical support to university students, faculty, and/or staff. Position may be responsible for assisting in a variety of department functions including, but not limited to, answering and resolving telephone help desk calls, receiving and releasing computers for service, and resolving computer hardware/software issues. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Job Duties
1. Answers and resolves telephone help desk calls.
2. Responds to support email in a timely and professional manner.
3. Logs support calls for email and phone calls in an accurate and timely manner.
4. Works with other technical departments in troubleshooting.
5. Assists with special projects as assigned.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.

Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Special Conditions for Eligibility

A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
