The PhD Program in School and Health Service Psychology invites applications for an open rank non-tenure track faculty position (Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor) to serve as Training Director to begin in Fall 2026. The successful candidate will join a collaborative faculty dedicated to preparing health service psychologists through integrative training in assessment, intervention, and consultation.

All courses within the program are delivered at the doctoral level in small, collaborative cohorts to foster an engaging academic environment. Faculty typically teach 2–3 courses per semester and benefit from the support of graduate assistants to enhance instructional and research efforts. The program is currently in active pursuit of APA accreditation, reflecting its commitment to maintaining the highest standards in psychological education and training.

Qualifications
Doctoral degree in School Psychology or closely related field from an APA-accredited program is required. Licensed or license-eligible as both a Licensed Psychologist (LP) and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) in Texas is required. 

Demonstrated experience supervising graduate students in practicum or internship settings is required. Commitment to excellence in teaching and professional service is required. Record of research productivity and potential for securing external funding is preferred. Experience with APA accreditation processes is preferred. Evidence of strong leadership and administrative skills is preferred. 

Responsibilities
  • Teaches doctoral-level courses (6-8 students per class). including Introduction to School Psychology, Advanced School Psychology, Consultation and Supervision, and Practicum Seminar (rotating assignments).
  • Serves as Training Director, overseeing practicum placement, supervision, and documentation processes consistent with APA accreditation standards. 
  • Mentors doctoral students in practicum and internship preparation. 
  • Participates in program development. 

This is a part-time or full-time, non-tenure track faculty position responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses while involved in clinical experiences or applied programs. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the academic unit head.


QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in the field in which the individual will be teaching is required. Terminal degree is preferred. Some fields may allow applicable practical experience to substitute for Master’s degree.


Practical experience sufficient to teach at a university level, through teaching or profession, is required. Experience teaching at a university level is preferred.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepares and delivers classes to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  2. Compiles, administers, and grades examinations.
  3. Provides services to the university and the profession.
  4. May conduct supplemental instructional activities such as independent studies, internships, and advising.


NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. May supervise the work of student and/or graduate assistants.
  2. May serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.  

  1. Extensive knowledge in the field in which the individual will be teaching.
  2. Ability to effectively teach undergraduate and/or graduate students.
  3. Ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  5. Ability to work effectively and patiently with students.
