What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Eligibility Specialist position at STEPFORWARD?
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to assist customers who are seeking information and services through the Energy Assistance Program and to follow agency, local, state and federal regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Utilizes administrative and technical office skills with knowledge of Agency policy, practices and procedures necessary to provide department/office support: address complaints, complements and inquiries; assist and handle phone interviews for agency personnel when necessary; organizes and maintains appeal files and records; facilitate home visit scheduling, requests logs and ensures internal client needs are met based on policies, procedures and guidelines as mandated; provide & acquire specific information needed to complete the application process for those with special circumstances (i.e., home bound clients) and ensure benefits are provided to those that qualify; also composes and prepares routine correspondence for mail out(s).
Operates a variety of automated information processing equipment to handle complaints, feedback forms and inquiries, correspondence and other documentation to include but not limited to preparing appeal files for review; coordinating inter-office functions within departments; preparing office supply requisitions & maintaining, stockroom inventory, office equipment, etc.; to include computer supplies and office supply maintenance.
Assists in building training workshops to include creating agendas; planning events documentation; acquiring supplies and catering services (if needed), setting up meetings; setting up audio/visual equipment and preparing seating arrangements for conference attendees as needed.
Attends and participates in meetings, trainings, conferences, seminars and workshops for professional development purposes, internal and external client engagement and to establish best practices in improving job knowledge, ability and skill.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; College level course work preferred; supplemented by three years of work experience in office administration or proven ability to manage large scale projects for a large Social Services Agency or in a related field.
Additional Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
Successful results of pre and continued employment assessments including fingerprinting, drug testing, medical examinations and background check(s).
