REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

This position reports to the Teen Programs Operations Manager

WHO WE ARE

At Step Up, we believe girls deserve to define and pursue success on their terms. By bringing girls together in inspired spaces – on and offline – we spark exploration and discussion of what’s possible. With structured support and access to a strong community, we guide girls towards their unique goals: first, by identifying those goals and then, building the roadmap to get there.

Step Up participants are high school girls and those who identify with girlhood and young women and those who identify with womanhood (ages 14-29), who are facing systemic barriers.

Step Up is in the process of implementing its five-year strategic plan, focused on strengthening existing programs and expanding its footprint nationally through a blended mentorship model of virtual, in person and independent learning methodologies.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Teen Programs Coordinator is a member of Step Up’s Programs Department. This role is responsible for designing, creating, and ensuring quality implementation of programs for teen girls and those who identify with girlhood, ages 14-18, both virtually and in person that are rooted in social and emotional learning and career development. This role is ideal for someone with experience in site management of youth development and out-of-school time programs.

The coordinator will supervise mentoring programs across multiple schools, focusing on relationship management with school partners and school site program facilitators (Fellows) to ensure consistent quality and impactful implementation. The coordinator will ensure that all stakeholders—teens, school partners, mentors—are aligned and supported. You will work closely across the organization and with key partners in support of the overall Teen Programs strategy. This is a remote position based in Dallas, requiring frequent in-person travel to schools and program sites throughout the week. There may also be some, occasional out-of-town travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Program Coordination: Ensure effective coordination and execution of all Teen Programs' events, initiatives, and mentoring programs across multiple schools in one Step Up city, ensuring alignment with the overall Teen Programs strategy. This includes managing outreach, recruitment, and engagement efforts for teens, as well as driving logistics, including the Student Ambassador program application process and program delivery to ensure program quality and safety.
  • Program Support: Ensure effective execution of programs by providing ongoing training, monitoring, and guidance for program facilitators and student ambassadors. Prioritize ensuring that each facilitator and student ambassador has access to all necessary resources for program delivery and understands how to use these resources. Serve as staff lead for Step Up sponsored field trips and all off-campus activities as needed.
  • Relationship Management: Develop and manage relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including teens, parents, schools, community, and corporate partners. Serve as a relationship manager for the school-based mentoring program’s facilitators (fellows) and student ambassadors to ensure understanding of and connection to Step Up’s mission, vision, programming and resources.
  • Mentor Engagement: Collaborate on strategies that support effective and efficient mentor participation in all Teen Programs' events, initiatives, and mentoring programs. This includes, but is not limited to, providing necessary materials, training, and support for mentors. Ensure participation in Step Up’s training programs for mentors, covering program objectives, mentoring techniques, and best practices. Offer ongoing support and resources to ensure mentors are well-prepared and confident in their roles.
  • Community Engagement: Serve as a representative of Step Up within the local community. This may require attending events and meetings on behalf of the organization, meeting with school or community leaders, and making connections with potential partner organizations to grow Step Up’s footprint and impact in the city.
  • Program Monitoring: Ensure accurate and timely data entry into appropriate systems and support ongoing monitoring and evaluation processes. Conduct regular check-ins with facilitators to address any concerns, provide feedback, and ensure continuous improvement. Additional associated duties include, but are not limited to, weekly school site visits, regular monitoring of data collection instrument utilization, and regular check-ins with facilitators and student ambassadors (in-person and online).
