Description
Step Up’s nonprofit practices serve clients nationally with full outsourcing services for all levels of the financial function, from CFO to bookkeeping. We support our clients to design and maintain effective and efficient policies, processes, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and execute daily accounting tasks, including preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements.
- Build and maintain trust-based relationships with Step Up’s clients via transparent and proactive communication.
- Pioneer and implement innovative tech-enabled accounting policies and procedures to optimize financial operations.
- Lead in the preparation and in-depth analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Conduct meticulous reviews of financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, providing expert financial insights to support decision-making processes.
- Stay current with evolving accounting regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and driving process improvements.
- Participate in special projects, such as process automation, system implementations, and advanced financial analysis.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of nonprofit accounting experience and 5 years of accounting experience total.
- Demonstrate an extensive understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Exhibit proficiency in QuickBooks Online and advanced Google Sheets and MS Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, paying meticulous attention to detail.
- Possess strong communication skills, fostering collaboration among team members and clients.
- Display exceptional organizational and time management skills, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines consistently.
- Embrace an agile mindset, continuously adapting and adjusting to a growing team.

Work Location & Travel Expectations
This is a remote position, with the expectation of travel on a Quarterly basis, though some times of year may involve more or less travel. Occasionally, client or internal meetings may be held that require in-person attendance.
