What are the responsibilities and job description for the Disaster Recovery Specialist position at Steneral Consulting?
- Location & Work Arrangement: Hybrid role (3 days onsite) in Washington, DC; must be local or able to interview in person.
- Industry Focus: Government cloud environments, VMWare, Microsoft Azure (Gov preferred), Kubernetes, and database platforms.
- Core Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify operational vulnerabilities.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
- Collaborate with IT and stakeholders on hardware/software changes impacting recovery.
- Lead department-specific recovery planning and keep current on new technologies.
- Procure, deploy, and evaluate disaster recovery tools and services.
- Design, test, and maintain recovery procedures and policies aligned with best practices.
- Oversee execution of recovery and continuity plans during disruptions.
- Train staff on emergency response and ensure compliance with recovery protocols.
- Safeguard critical data via regular backups and secure off-site storage.
- Monitor and respond to security threats; recommend and apply patches and upgrades.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Required Experience & Skills:
- 3 years in public/government cloud (Azure, IaaS, PaaS, Kubernetes).
- 3 years in IT administration/engineering (Windows & Linux).
- Strong knowledge in disaster recovery planning, cloud security, and industry standards.
- Experience migrating from on-prem VMWare to Azure.
- Familiarity with AWS networking, data protection, and event management.
- Project management, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-pressure situations.
- Education & Certification:
- Master’s in IT or Computer Science, or Bachelor’s with 10 years relevant experience.
- DR/BCP (Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning) Certification required.
- Other Details: Open to US Citizens and Green Card holders; $90/hr C2C; due date 07/02/2025.
