Role Description

The Director of Sales and Custom STEM Solutions is the senior leader responsible for driving revenue growth, building a high‑performance sales organization, and expanding market penetration across PreK–12 districts, charter networks, after‑school programs, and STEM‑focused organizations. This role owns the full sales cycle, from strategy to execution, and ensures predictable, scalable revenue aligned with company goals.

This position reports to the CEO or COO and is a full-time salaried position.


Essential Functions: These include but are not limited to the following:

1. Revenue Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute a national sales strategy targeting PreK–12 schools, districts, STEM programs, camps, and higher‑education partners.
  • Define sales territories, quotas, and market coverage models to maximize reach and efficiency.
  • Build and optimize a repeatable sales process including prospecting, discovery, demo, proposal, and close.
  • Partner with Finance and Sales Operations to establish accurate forecasting, pipeline KPIs, and revenue targets.

2. Team Building & Leadership

  • Recruit, hire, train, and coach a high‑performing team of Outside Sales Reps and Inside Sales Reps.
  • Implement ongoing coaching, performance reviews, and skill‑development programs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, data‑driven decision‑making, and continuous improvement.

3. Sales Operations & Enablement

  • Oversee CRM usage (HubSpot or Odoo) to ensure data integrity, pipeline visibility, and actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to refine messaging, and demand‑generation strategies.
  • Build scalable playbooks, sales scripts, and onboarding frameworks.
  • Develop partnership and indirect sales channels to expand reach.

4. Market Engagement & Representation

  • Represent the company at STEM education conferences, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Build relationships with district leaders, curriculum directors, STEM coordinators, and procurement teams.
  • Monitor competitive landscape and emerging trends in STEM education, edtech, and instructional materials.

Assist in the completion of other tasks as needs arise.

  • Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence.
  • Reporting to work on time each day, after breaks and not leaving early.
  • Assuming responsibility for staying aware of changes in company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with supervisors and other staff members. Demonstrate a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position.


Experience

  • Proven success in outside sales with a strong background in B2B sales environments.
  • Demonstrated management experience leading high-performing sales teams with a focus on leadership development.
  • Extensive experience in technology or technical sales, with familiarity using Salesforce or similar CRM tools for pipeline management.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of closing complex deals and fostering strategic partnerships.
  • Background in business development activities that expand market reach and increase revenue streams.
  • Excellent analysis skills to interpret sales data, market conditions, and customer feedback for strategic decision-making.

  • 10 years of experience in education, edtech, STEM products, or experiential learning sales; 3 years in senior sales leadership.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and scaling sales teams in a B2B education environment.
  • Experience in or knowledge of Custom Design and Kitting and supply chain in Education.


Measurement of Performance

Feedback from Ownership will be continuous as you perform your job Duties and Responsibilities. The Company Performance Evaluation will be a measurement of performance, as well as your impact on the Company’s financial performance. The Evaluation will be completed annually as well as upon the completion of 90 days of employment.

Company financial results are the key measurement of performance.

Metrics include:


Annual Sales growth and attainment vs. the Budget/Profit Plan.

  • Pipeline volume and forecast accuracy.
  • Territory performance and market penetration.
  • Sales team productivity (activity metrics, win rates, deal velocity).
  • Customer retention and expansion revenue.
