What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Manufacturing Engineering (HMLV, SMT, PCB/PCBA) position at STEM Search Group?
What you'll do...
- Own the full PCBA production operation, from equipment selection and floor layout to staffing, scheduling, and hitting aggressive rate targets, for a nearly $3B VC-backed startup
- Build an SMT line from the ground up, unboxing and qualifying million-dollar machinery, not maintaining something that already exists
- Lead a mixed team of manufacturing engineers and floor technicians through component and board-level assembly for dev and flight hardware
- Push design-for-manufacturability conversations early with the design team, before problems reach the floor
- Develop processes, tooling, and GSE as new hardware designs come in, and improve what is already running
- Track yield, on-time delivery, and other production metrics and use them to drive decisions
- Own safety and quality culture on the floor, not just on paper
What we're looking for...
- Hands-on PCBA and SMT experience in aerospace, defense, or a comparably demanding, low-volume, high-mix environment
- Proven track record leading a team or driving cross-functional programs through new product introduction or a development-to-production transition
- Someone who can explain the physics and thermal tradeoffs behind process decisions, not just cite spec sheets
- Comfort running a high-mix, low-volume floor where setups change often and designs are still maturing
- Clear, direct communicator who gives concrete answers without a lot of preamble
- Familiarity with ERP, MRP, or MES systems, with the ability to define requirements, not just use them
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable technical field
- Comp: $150K-$230K base significant equity benefits
- Compliance: Strict ITAR (U.S. Person: U.S. Citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident/LPR, Refugee, or Asylee)
Salary : $150,000 - $230,000
